More Over Pop Tarts, Here Comes Charice

Charice Pempengco is the Filipina teenage sensation who was burning the YouTube sites when she was just 13 yrs old with her million hits in all her videos which were posted by people who were nice enough to share the amazing talent they’ve just discovered. Then one day, Ellen DeGeneres discovered her. She blew everyone away by belting out high powered songs, effortlessly. And then one day, Oprah found her and put her in her Most Talented Kids Around The World show. Oprah couldn’t stop thinking about who Charice is that she brought her back to her show last week. The little girl from the Philippines, now 16, whose dreams of singing with her idols like Josh Groban, Michael Buble’, Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion came true is now a few steps away if not closer to stardom. With a budding career under the watchful eyes of Oprah and David Foster. What more could a 16 yr. old ask for?
Charice drives me to tears whenever I watch her videos. Like literally in tears, sniff sniff blowing my nose off in tears. Let her sing with all the high caliber singers in the biz, Charice can handle it. The question is, can they? Give the girl a contract, Grammy’s, and AMA’s. She probably already have a contract but David Foster is taking his time to officially introduce her to the world as a star that she is. With Oprah’s guidance (hoping so), The music biz is Charice’s oyster.

David Foster finds! I love Renee Olstead, it’s too bad her appearance on Oprah didn’t start too much of a sensation.
As for Charice, she does have a great voice. I wonder what her voice sounds like with an original song? Nonetheless, I’m sure a lot of Pinoys are happy to claim her!
Funny you said that coz I’ve been thinking a lot about it. I think David Foster is phasing and finding the right materials for Charice. I think she’ll be alright.
As long as they don’t turn her into too much Pop. She maybe young and it’s probably the typical direction but her voice is too powerful for just Pop songs.
I really hope they make every right decision for Charice. She’s too talented to have a mediocre debut album.
Charice does have a debut album, from the Philippines under ABS-CBN. But to be managed by David Foster would just max her potential.
Charice voice is so powerful and everytime she sings, it is like she is telling a story and as a listener you are “moved.” I hope she will have a real album produced and arranged by David Foster.

You’ll be happy to know that DF already has a plan for Cha’s debut album, in 2 years time & I quote (from an interview of DF by CASSANDRA SZKLARSKI of The Canadian Press):
“At 16 it’s just too young (to have an album), unless you want to go after the Disney crowd, which I know nothing about,” says Foster, the Victoria-born phenom who’s launched the careers of Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Buble and Josh Groban.
“It almost seems like in the Disney crowd, with all due respect, that most of the singers don’t really sing that well. It’s almost like a prerequisite to be a success on the Disney Channel. If you look at Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus and all these girls, they’re OK but they’re not Celines and Whitneys. I don’t think Charice belongs there, so I think we’ll just wait and when she’s 18 it’ll be the right time.” – David Foster
Don’t worry Dexie, this coming directly from DF. DF’s definitely has “huge” plan for Cha & it doesn’t include going for the “Disney crowd” (with all due respect) LOL!

No doubt, I agree with all of you. This girl is truly talented one of a kind. I am so happy that the world finally got to know of her.
As for Renee Olstead (don’t worry, mare). I believe she is also one amazing talent. It’s just that her genre is more of jazz. More appreciated by an upper class and that is not really of the masses.
Both girls to me are just totally mind blowing. And I do hope and pray that their careers will blossom and stay for a long long time for everyone to enjoy their golden voices….
