The Old Britney VS Christina “Rivalry” Arises

Way back from when they first started, all the way back to The Mickey Mouse Club, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera have been coaxed, poked, encouraged, manipulated, rumored, prodded, written, and instigated to have a “rivalry”. Call it whatever you want. While the 2 Pop Stars were happy getting their foot into the music industry, the mainstream media were even happier to have found the gold mine. 2 Stars, from the house of Mickey Mouse, whom probably during their time in Disney were actually bestfriends are making waves in the Pop Music genre at the same time. Pretty much. Talk about a storyline of all storylines for media and tabloids to exploit and capitalize on.
Who deserved to take over Madonna’s throne? They didn’t realize Madonna is going to stay on that throne as long as she wants to, heh. Who sold more albums? Who will lose her virginity first? Who will show up in a slutty outfit? Who will crack first? Whose life is more worthy to paparazzis’ paycheck. I think we know all the answers to that, don’t we? At this point, it’s just a matter of personal preference.
Who is the better Pop Star? Britney or Christina? That became the mantra of all mantras when it came to these rising Pop Stars. Both were nominated for Grammy’s Best New Artist where Christina took home the trophy. Forget the fact that there was another Pop Star trying to make a name of her own. No wonder Jessica Simpson went on to make a reality show, venture into fashion and eventually left the Pop genre to try the Country Music scene.. She never had the chance. If only Madonna added her as the “3rd wheel” in the infamous MTV VMA Kiss with Britney and Christina. Maybe Jessica’s future would be so different today..LOL.
Anyway, back to Britney and Christina, the “old rivalry” has been set up. Starting with Metro UK who just had a conversation with Christina where Brit’s new single was brought up :
On her Britney Spears rivalry, Aguilera swears she hasn’t been monitoring her new ‘Womanizer’ show.
‘Honestly, I haven’t. I’ve been so sort of in my own creative cave. But no, it’s a great feeling to still be in the game with somebody that you have known for so many years, even going back to the Mickey Mouse club. We had so much fun together.’
But she adds: ‘At this stage in our lives, we are so different I don’t think you can put us in the same ball park.’ (SOURCE)
Good answer Christina. With their albums coming out so close to each other (Christina’s is on November, Britney’s is on December), I’m pretty sure the stage is being prepared for another “fight” for Madonna’s throne between the two. Albeit albums being dropped are completely different from each other since Christina’s is a hits compilation and Britney’s is a full-length studio album. The proverbial “competition” is going to rise again. The doors are being prepped.
Personally, I like them both. But I’m more of a Britney Spears fan though. What can I say? I prefer dancing (sometimes) over singing songs with too much bravado. Hey, “It’s my Prerogative” darrnit

I love them both, but Britney I love more. Christina doesn’t have the factor to be famous, she’s jealous, she bitches to the magazines instead of working on making music and she thinks image is so much more important than the music. No one cares if she can sing it live similar to the album more so than another singer- you shouldn’t have to justify why you think Christina’s better. Britney fans can at least use facts to support their opinion rather than excuses.

She has outsold Christina in everything. Albums, Concerts, Merchandise
the factor that christina doesn’t have to famous is drooling, salivating adoration of the media that britney has had from jump street. right away they cast them in the ‘good girl bad girl’ roles with christina constantly being the victim of the media’s ugly vicious sniping. they did their best to ignore the fact that madonna kissed christina at the ‘03 vmas as well as britney bcuz they were so intent on her being the next madonna. were it not for all the HYPE & the vigerous SAVE BRITNEY CAMPAIGNS, & let’s not forget those 3 HIGHLY UNDESERVED MTV AWARDS!!! her performances now are just a fraction better than the one she gave at the 2007 vmas. she clops around the stage looking dazed & lip-syncing badly. u r hanging on to the old britney. she’s looong gone!! i do agree christina should remain quiet about the unfairness in the media, even though her anger is justified, she should rise above it.
i meant to say were it not for all the hype, the save britney campaigns & the undeserved MTV awards her career would now be just a footnote.
i prefer christina. not becuz i dislike britney but i just don’t think britney can hold a candle to christina when it comes to singing or dancing. if u watch christina’s videos like ‘dirrty’ or ‘candyman’(even if u don’t like the song…which i do) a blind man can see that at the top of britney’s game she couldn’t compete with christina’s dancing. and, of course, there’s no argument about who is the better singer. i consider these ‘facts’ not excuses for liking christina best. to me it’s about ‘talent’ not careers kept afloat by media hype.
Christina by far. the girl can sing her little ass off plus she to me is the madonna with the talent. shes not scared to speak her mind and be provocetive and she hasent shaved her head she nos how to pick a good man.christina is going to be kylie minogue a fine wine that keeps getting better with age.
ahhh this old thing, poor britney, this rivalry is a common thing when two similar artists debut at the same time: madonna and cyndi lauper, nsync and the backstreet boys, nirvana and pearl jam, hillary duff and lindsay lohan etc but the britney/xtina rivalry has now lasted nearly 11 years the facts as you call them are these britney came out in late 1998 with a number one hit xtina came sometime mid 99 (reflection doesn’t count it didnt chart in the top 40) musically their debut albums were identical even the singles sounded similar baby one more time genie sometimes,what a girl wants,crazy,come on over at this stage performance wise britney was the better of the two (she actually sung and had a decent voice) and was the higgest selling christina however had a the voice that could pound britney into the ground but britney was a better dancer,the 1st grammy which christina one in my oppinion didnt matter because there music was so similar that it probably only came down to who had the better voice,but then christina went away for a long time and durring this time britney released two massive follow ups and tours and had become the britney,britney was always similar to miley cyrus back then cute and innocent but with way more sex appeal,in 2002 britney was the most powerful celebrity in the world but the world was tiring of her,she was growing up and going a lil crazy from being in the spotlight and constantly working so she took a break and in this time xtina came back in the sluttyist but coolest way possible she completly reinvented herself and the album was actually a very raw amazing classic she had a couple number ones then went back to the street corner when britneys 4th album came out it was similar to stripped in the pulsating beats and sexualness of the album but the music didnt have as much heart the album did very well but not as well as her previous efforts.then she met k-fed long story shot he ruined her all he wanted was her money,all she wanted was love,she took an entire 4 years off and went ….nuts shaving her head rehab i dont have to repeat it you all know but while britney was digging her own grave xtina was now considered a respectable musician and had won a boat load of grammys (WHICH BY THE WAY BRITNEY ACTUALLY DID WIN ONE FOR BEST DANCE RECORDING) when britney FINALLY released her 5th album well she wasnt there it seems partying all the time plays havoc with your voice,britney sounded more like kylie minogue of janet jackson (weak) than her once competent self the album also failed to live up to her standard but still did better than predidcted,because instead of promoting it traditionally she went out and got herself in the papers,then she got put under psych evaluation and at this time your wondering how can any squeky clean disney kid ever ever ever come back from this? i honestly dont know but i think it comes down to the fact that pop appeal wise britneys singles always are fun poppy danceable songs that are relevent to the current trends and that she lets the public in her life britney is the new madonna in certain ways as she has reinvented herself for a long time and come back again and again but lately and yeah half of the circus album was good hte first 6 tracks and the first 3 singles were brilliant but her performances arent amazing anymore her current singles are only so so and she doesnt speak her mind anymore nor does she talk about what she’s been throught im worried the jlo effect will happen to her you know you whore yourself out to the media but after awhile they just dont take any notice of you(paris,lindsay,jessica simpson,hillary duff this happened to them) but can britney come back from this? i think at this stage britney could kill someone and come back but when will she?
The undying rivalry between the two stars was quite eye-catching. If the two will be compared, the basis of critiquing is the total package of a singer, whether she can sing and dance. Anyways, Britney is an influential singer thus, millions of fans do like her because of the popular songs she had sung and the upbeats and melodies were ear- friendly. On the other way, Christina’s songs are more into soul, inspired by her life before, experiencing the domestic violence. She used it to inspire other people through music. Britney’s songs are provocative while Christina’s lyrics are emotional, raw, naked and bold. Why compare these two stars if they have there different music genre. There’s no sense if we still stick on who is more popular and who isn’t. If we try to compare the awards of the two, we can obviously see who brought home the bacon. I must say I am more into Christina’s songs but I’m not saying that I am against the other one. Its just that appreciate Christina’s songs much better because of the styles she made in her past career life. She is a versatile singer, songwriter and an actress(soon) and she can make her own name in the music industry.
