Special Red Carpet correspondent Maria Diaz here of b5media blogs BravoFan and CelebTots, taking the stage from your regular blogger Lauren to give you some dish on what was going on at the Red Carpet of the MTV Video Music Awards, held last night at Radio City Music Hall in New York City!

First, let’s just discuss Kanye West. If, when snatching the mic away from sweet little Taylor Swift was to make sure no one stopped talking about him, then he succeeded! I’m not surprised he had such an outburst though, from the way he and girlfriend Amber Rose were chugging on Hennesey as they strolled down the red carpet, ignoring all press.
The Hill’s Lo Bosworth was the first star on the red carpet, slowly making her way down the line until she was pulled away to film a segment for the show. After that, it was non-stop excitement. All of the super big names just walk and wave (and some, like Beyonce and Jay-Z don’t even walk!) but I did get a chance to talk to a few stars, starting with the well-dressed Anjulie, who was nominated for “Best Breakthrough Award”for her song “Boom.” She’s only been around the scene for a year, and said she was so excited to be at the VMAs and “loved” talking to all the reporters on the red carpet. I asked what her favorite summer jam of the year was, and she wisely said her own music!

Amerie (who sings “One Thing”) told me that her favorite summer jam was any of Lady Gaga’s songs. She also said this was one of the first VMA’s where the “atmosphere felt so good.” “Beautiful Girls” singer Sean Kingston stopped by and talked about his upcoming “Tomorrow Tour,” in support of his upcoming album. He had a little mini-cartoon Sean with him, who is also going on the tour!

Kid Sister, female rapper extraordinairre, said her favorite summer jam was BreakUp Man by Gucci Mane and Mario. She was wearing an awesome Aaliyah shirt and we bonded over our favorite Aaliyah song “Are You That Somebody?” a classic. MTV’s very own Alexa Chung was another one of the best-dressed of the night, wearing an adorable black and white dress. She asked how we were doing, since she remembers that she hated having to interview stars on the red carpet in the days before she had her own show.
Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship was the very last person to walk the red carpet. While it was hard to hear him over the chants of his devoted fans, who were singing his songs at the top of their lungs, I did manage to hear him say that “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys was one of his favorite music videos. As for his favorite summer jam, we’re just going to have to guess!
