Janet Jackson’s Label Woes

June 17, 2008 by Dexie

janet-jackson_nc Don’t know if you’ve heard but Janet Jackson is not happy with how Island Def Jam is treating her debut album (Discipline) under the label. Discipline only sold a dismal 390,000 copies in the US. Janet’s first single off of the album only reached #39 in the charts. The second single ‘Rock Wit U’ didn’t even make a dent in the charts while the 3rd single ‘LUV‘ only made it to #34. Because of this and her disappointment with the lack of promotion from Island Def Jam, Janet decided not to release any more single.

This is very unfortunate. I dig the album, it’s ok I guess. It’s Janet. But then again, I prefer the remix version of Feedback with Ciara, heh. I guess the fans has outgrown Janet’s style of music? How does this affect her upcoming tour? No news yet on that but I hope it’s still a go. Janet has always been a great concert performer. Maybe this would change sales somehow.
