Thanks to corporate sponsors, celebrities, artists, politicians and viewers donations, Idol Gives Back 2008 raised $22 million. Charities like Children’s Defense Fund, the Global Fund, Make It Right, Malaria No More, Save The Children and the Children’s Health Fund will all benefit from last night’s wonderful effort from everybody.

Last year’s effort raised $76 million. They’re hoping to surpass that with $100 million which is attainable by going to iTunes to purchase the highlight performances from the show. Tonight will be the expanded show with Bono at the helm to give information on ONE Campaign to fight poverty and AIDS.

Good job viewers, American Idol, FOX and all the people involved in making this another successful year to give back.
