Hits and Miss At The 2008 VMA’s

Oh here we go right? I can’t just leave it enough alone. I have to bitch about it. Oh shusssss, this ain’t your Mama’s blog. Take a cue from Britney Spears who picked up 3 awards, “It’s Pop Music Scene, biaaaatttccchhhh!” :)
Let’s start with the 2008 VMA Miss.
- New Kids On The Block were nowhere to be found. WTH? (they’re in London, hehe)
- Performances were really tame and lame compare to the past performances.
- Katy Perry’s “Like A Virgin” version sucked.
- Lauren Conrad is such a boring person/presenter.
- Miley Cyrus should’ve performed. :)
- Rihanna’s opening performance was borderline boring and really not as disturbing as the songs’ video (Disturbia). And she couldn’t even sing in the middle of it.
- Fashion was boring as well. Nothing edgy, over the top or bizarre yet kick-ass outfits. Slipknot wasn’t bizarre. They looked like their normal selves, heh.
- Jordin Sparks insulting everyone who doesn’t wear promise rings by calling them sluts…LOL.
- Kanye’s closing performance was so boring no one is even talking about it the next day. The cocky artist was such a dud. Thank goodness it was at the end of the show.
- After Party, Perez Hilton saying he’s happy Britney Spears won. He was one of the voters and he voted for her coz she “needed” it. Really? Aren’t you the one who walks around a in Hollywood wearing a shirt with Britney’s face in it with an X or NO on ‘em.
- Furthermore, he criticizes Russell Brand for making too much fun of Jonas Brother’s and their promise rings. As good as that sounds, Perez Hilton is the last person on earth to criticize anyone who makes fun of anybody. Perez makes his living by blogging and making fun of celebrities and their private lives. It doesn’t matter if they’re true or it could hurt them. Bitch Pleassseeee!
2008 VMA Hits after the fold…
- Britney Spears looked fabulous and finally won a VMA award. 3 actually
- Jordin Sparks standing up to Russell Brand and defending the Jonas Brothers. Her statement kinda worked both ways, heh.
- Jessica Simpson is a no show. HALLELUJAH!!!
- Sean P Diddy wasn’t there to be the quintessential arrogant and obnoxious A-Hole.
- I hate to admit it but Pete and Ashlee were too cute :).
- The acceptance speeches where sweet and succinct.
- Watching Paris Hilton fumble. It was quick but it was funny, hehe.
- Except for the Pussycat Dolls, no one shamelessly plugged an album release date, movie or a TV Show. :).
- Christina Aguilera’s performance was awesome. And this is coming from a non-Christina fan.
- And last but not the least, Tommy Lee (& Pamela) had the decency not to show up so Kid Rock doesn’t beat the crap out of him again like he did at last year’s VMA.. (LOL)

Oh you’re writing is sooo much fun! :-)
And what on earth was with the ‘non’ performances? I mean, we hear Katie Perry will sing Like a Virgin…but she doesn’t really. I was expecting stage performances for US…not for the audience. I was thinking it might actually get better, but that’s all we saw…those 10 seconds of a NOT SO GREAT rendition. :-)

Thanks Betsy. The performances were lackluster. MTV should’ve done duets with artists in different genres. That would’ve been so interesting. And kick-ass enders. Kanye was about the worst ending show I’ve seen from VMA, heh.

I sort of look at Brit’s win as bittersweet. She didn’t deserve it any more now than she did before, but it’s good to see the fans still behind her. She definitely needed the ego boost after the year she’s had. And Miley Cyrus is adorable, far more talented than Katy Perry and much more entertaining than the Jonas Brothers.

Kimberlee, yeah, I’m actually the few people who didn’t help at getting her nominated when her fans were clamoring for nominations. I wrote something about it.
I’m a huge fan but I feel more like a sister to her..LOL. Hence I’m genuinely happy she actually finally won. At his point, MTV pretty much owes her,hehe. I figured it’s VMA, anything goes anyway, heh.
