By the way, This Is It is a documentary of Michael’s rehearsals for his tour by the same name, which he was working on before he passed away. It can be seen in theatres right now, but it only has a limited run of two weeks, so if you haven’t seen it yet and plan to, then get on over and catch a showing.

It was quite a…bloody performance. The girl has a great singing voice, by the way. But she is so odd! What was with the mask? Anyways, she was in all her Gaga glory as the performance went on and she was stabbed and then later hung. Just a tad creepy…What did you guys think?

She went on to talk about the similarities between both of them and how he had it worst, because he lost his childhood. She also went on to talk about how they had gotten closer, but then the two stopped talking. Following that, the media began their hateful headlines and everything he did was criticized. Madonna basically said that herself, the media and all the hateful people had abandoned Michael when he needed them the most.  It was pretty emotional speech, and you could tell that some of it really got to her. Take a look at it below.

Then, a tribute performance was put on for Michael, and later Janet came out and performed her Michael’s duet for “Scream.” It was purely amazing.

I’m really looking forward to the VMAs in general. The list of performers sounds awesome and it really seems like the right people got nominated this year, with Lady Gaga and Beyoncé leading the pack of nominees.

In more news, Russell Brand’s inappropriate and rude comments made audiences fall in love with the UK comedian last year at the Video Music Awards, which is why, this year, he’s coming back again to perform his hosting duties.

Though last year he made several controversial references to the fact that the Jonas Brothers are virgins and insulted president George W. Bush, he supposedly just “wants love” this year. The executive producer of the VMAs Jesse Ignjatovic says, "I don’t think Russell’s looking this year to say, ‘How can I be even more controversial?’ He wants to come out and celebrate with the audience. I don’t think he’s looking to shock or upset people. He believes in love! He wants love!"

Uh huh…does that sound weird to anyone else? Sure he might want love at the VMAs this year, but in a different way then what we’re thinking . Check out the list of presenters and performers who’ll be there this year, after the jump.

Okay, really Heidi. Just because you can somewhat carry a tune, does not mean that you’re a singer. Her song certainly does not require much vocal talent and from this video, she’s not all that great of a dancer. So, she lip-synched to the song in order to dance, but her dancing was not only ahead of the music and other dancers, but it was mediocre. It seemed like she was trying to do some Britney Spears type performance, and in my opinion it didn’t work out.

However, father Billy Ray Cyrus defended his daughter’s choice to pole dance, telling Access Hollywood, "You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people. She loves singing [and] songwriting."

He explains that he taught them to worry about themselves and not other people’s opinions, "I always tell her to love what you’re doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion," he said. He also told Us magazine, “I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they wanna make, and make it in their own voice. I think it’s important."

Following the performance, Disney said they don’t want to be held responsible for anything that happened involving Miley at the TCAs, "Disney Channel won’t be commenting on that performance, although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience — kids 6-14 — and consistent with what our brand values are."

I think the pole dancing, what she was wearing and how she was moving that night was just so inappropriate. I don’t think kids should be looking up at celebs as role models, but I think that when you intentionally put yourself in the spotlight, you need to present yourself in the best way possible. Miley is still a kid and pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards is just wrong. Maybe if it was at the VMAs or something, but that event was for teens.  I do have to say that the girl does know how to sing well live, though. Here’s the video in case you missed it:
