Is Miley Cyrus Really the Worst Influence of 2009?

As you probably know by know, teen queen Miley Cyrus has been voted as the Worst Influence of 2009. The voting was held by a site called AOL’s JSYK.com (Just So You Know) and people decided that she’s not quite Disney appropriate.

Miley beat out Britney Spears (second place) and Kanye West (third place), seemingly because of the ">‘>pole dancing controversy, in which Miley stood on top of an ice cream cart, which had a pole on it and was being pushed across the stage at the Teen Choice Awards.

Editor of the website, Stephanie Cohen, says "I think Miley is in an interesting space where she is trying to graduate from being ‘Hannah Montana’ and a Disney channel celebrity and coming into her own and having a career beyond Disney."

She adds, "I think her fans still want her to be the sweet Hannah Montana and she is trying to age up…Parents are definitely resisting it."

Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) came in fourth, while Transformers star Shia LaBeouf came in fifth. Though, there might not be a real feud going on between Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, Miley can be jealous of Selena for one thing: Selena was voted the Best Influence of this year, with best friend Taylor Swift coming in second. Nick Jonas came in third, Emma Watson in fourth and Justin Bieber in fifth.

I was just outraged that Britney Spears was voted the second worst. She should be seen more of as a comeback story. This year has been big for her. She is finally getting over that dark moment in her life, came out with and awesome record and is rocking it out. It’s a great story, and certainly not deserving to be worst over Kanye West…

And it’s pretty harsh that Miley was voted the absolute worst. Do you think Miley deserved the title? She has made quite a few thoughtless decisions, and she does seem to be trying to grow up way too fast, but is this title too harsh?

Should the Spice Girls Reunite Again?

Rumor has it that the Spice Girls may very well be reuniting again, however, they say that Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham) isn’t up for it and they would therefore let the show go on without her. Now that these rumors truly are heating up, I want to know what you guys think!

VMA Fashion: Who Wore it Best – Pink or Shakira?

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was full of nice style choices, and thankfully, there weren’t too many train wrecks. It seemed like most people were on the right track – some of the attendees thinking so much alike that they even showed up wearing the same outfit.

Singers, Pink and Shakira were both spotted wearing the same Balmain mini with sequins. I thought both ladies looked quite nice, but I want to know who you guys think worked this mini dress the best.

Katy Perry: Is She Hot or Cold?

New pop sensation, Katy Perry, has pumped out hits and has been seen everywhere. The girl’s got an extreme personality. Most people either love her or they hate her. But I can’t tell you how many different mixed emotions I’ve come across. Some folks say she’s great as an artist while some people say she’s a sucky singer, but they love her as a person.

That’s why I want to know what Pop Music Scene readers think! Would you mind waking up in Vegas with Katy? Let me know in the poll below and/or write a comment.

Who Did it Best: Backstreet Boys Vs. ‘N Sync?

If you were interested in music at all during the 1990s , you’ll know that the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync were two very popular and successful boy bands. Both bands pumped out hit singles and had girls drooling over them. They were both groups who loved to dance and were often compared to each other. Now, before I continue, I know that the Backstreet Boys continue to make music (listen to their new single here), but I think we can agree that they were in their prime roughly from 1995-2000.

Meanwhile, ‘N Sync hit their prime likely from 1999-2001. Singer, Justin Timberlake emerged as a solo star and continues to be one of the greatest artists in the industry right now, while Backstreets Boys continue to send girls’ heart aflutter.

Personally, I had a poster of them both a few years back but, if I had to choose, I’d go with ‘N Sync. So, if you had to pick one, which of these boy bands do you prefer?

Britney Spears’ Circus Cover, Yay Or Nay?

Circus by Britney Spears will be out on December 2nd, her birthday. How do you like the Circus cover? She looks pretty and the cover is soooooooo much better than BLACKOUT. Not the test is if Circus’ tracks will be much better than Blackout. The latter is by far Britney’s best album ever in my opinion.

I love how they did the font of her name but I’m quite disappointed with the lack of Circus theme graphics. I think they could’ve done better. It’s a pretty picture of Britney. It just feels incomplete.

Tokio Hotel OR Jonas Brothers?

Tokio Hotel and Jonas Brothers are being compared and pitted against each other these days. can’t really blame the music industry. Where there is fire, light it up. Each band have their own fan bases, respectively. Or, if you’re like me, you like both .

Jonas Brothers is big in the US while Tokio Hotel is big in Europe. BUT, Jonas Brothers is now trying to conquer Europe while Tokio Hotel is bringing their talent and charm here in the US with a few Fall tour dates and recently winning 2008 VMA’s Best New Artist Award.

Granted some people would love them to fight, both bands are actually respectful towards each other. AND, if you really think about it, can relate with what’s going on with their careers. As proven in the picture above.

So, just for fun, who here is a Tokio Hotel fan and Jonas Brothers fan? Or both? Feel free to tell us why.
