Madonna Named #3 Most Powerful Celebrity by Forbes!

Pop goddess, Madonna was recently ranked #3 by Forbes magazine’s list of the 100 Most Powerful Celebrities! No doubt, she is super powerful. There is a reason why she’s been around so long! She’s accomplished so much!

Here’s what Forbes had to say about her:

The queen of pop’s Hard Candy album tour became the top-grossing international tour of 2008, bringing in $280 million on 58 concerts in 17 countries. Keeping the 50-year old star’s name in the papers: a reported love affair with allegedly juiced baseball slugger Alex Rodriquez, the end of her eight-year marriage to director Guy Ritchie, and trouble with her latest attempt to adopt a second African baby.

Pop Songs On Rolling Stone’s 2008 Top 100 Singles

Rolling Stone released their 2008 Top 100 Singles and not everyone is happy. You can’t blame them though because the list just does not make sense. No disrespect to the artists included on the list but there are far better and popular singles that came out this year that should’ve been on the list.

List Of Christmas Albums To Check Out

Various artists have released their Christmas albums out, respectively. For some, it’s such an ultimate album to add to their repertoire. Interestingly enough, Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin has just released her first ever Christmas Album of her career. While young ones clamor for releasing one at the beginning of their careers, Aretha waited for a long long time. Well, better late than never, right?

Hits and Miss At The 2008 VMA’s

Oh here we go right? I can’t just leave it enough alone. I have to bitch about it. Oh shusssss, this ain’t your Mama’s blog. Take a cue from Britney Spears who picked up 3 awards, “It’s Pop Music Scene, biaaaatttccchhhh!”

Let’s start with the 2008 VMA Miss.

New Kids On The Block were nowhere to be found. WTH? (they’re in London, hehe)
Performances were really tame and lame compare to the past performances.
Katy Perry’s “Like A Virgin” version sucked.
Lauren Conrad is such a boring person/presenter.
Miley Cyrus should’ve performed.
Rihanna’s opening performance was borderline boring and really not as disturbing as the songs’ video (Disturbia). And she couldn’t even sing in the middle of it.
Fashion was boring as well. Nothing edgy, over the top or bizarre yet kick-ass outfits. Slipknot wasn’t bizarre. They looked like their normal selves, heh.
Jordin Sparks insulting everyone who doesn’t wear promise rings by calling them sluts…LOL.
Kanye’s closing performance was so boring no one is even talking about it the next day. The cocky artist was such a dud. Thank goodness it was at the end of the show.
After Party, Perez Hilton saying he’s happy Britney Spears won. He was one of the voters and he voted for her coz she “needed” it. Really? Aren’t you the one who walks around a in Hollywood wearing a shirt with Britney’s face in it with an X or NO on ‘em.
Furthermore, he criticizes Russell Brand for making too much fun of Jonas Brother’s and their promise rings. As good as that sounds, Perez Hilton is the last person on earth to criticize anyone who makes fun of anybody. Perez makes his living by blogging and making fun of celebrities and their private lives. It doesn’t matter if they’re true or it could hurt them. Bitch Pleassseeee!

2008 VMA Hits after the fold…

Britney Spears looked fabulous and finally won a VMA award. 3 actually
Jordin Sparks standing up to Russell Brand and defending the Jonas Brothers. Her statement kinda worked both ways, heh.
Jessica Simpson is a no show. HALLELUJAH!!!
Sean P Diddy wasn’t there to be the quintessential arrogant and obnoxious A-Hole.
I hate to admit it but Pete and Ashlee were too cute .
The acceptance speeches where sweet and succinct.
Watching Paris Hilton fumble. It was quick but it was funny, hehe.
Except for the Pussycat Dolls, no one shamelessly plugged an album release date, movie or a TV Show. .
Christina Aguilera’s performance was awesome. And this is coming from a non-Christina fan.
And last but not the least, Tommy Lee (& Pamela) had the decency not to show up so Kid Rock doesn’t beat the crap out of him again like he did at last year’s VMA.. (LOL)

Summer Hits For My Summer Soundtrack

As part of the Music Channel’s Summer Soundtrack theme day, I’m sharing with you the summer hits I’ve been listening to. I guess you could call it as a “Summer Soundtrack”. I haven’t had time time to crank up the old school songs, except on a few instances here at the Song Of The Day feature. As August is such a busy month for me, I usually pump the volume up when my favorite hits are playing on Satellite TV’s XM Hitlist or 20 on 20. Take a listen below and hope everyone is having a wonderful Summer!

As you can see and hear, not all of the songs are geared into the POP Music genre per se’. But music is universal and I listen to all kinds. Although surprisingly, I’m not digging the pop country songs lately. Oh well. Like I said, Hapy summer and feel free to share with me your summer soundtrack on the comments box. I would love to check them out too. Thanks!
