Nelly Furtado Turned Down $1 Million Playboy Offer

Singer, Nelly Furtado says that earlier on in her career, she had been offered $1 million to pose nude in Playboy magazine. They even offered to dish out $500,000 if she posed while keeping her clothes on!

Furtado said of their request, "The magazine was even prepared to pay me $500,000 to pose with my clothes on. I didn’t want Playboy on my resume at the age of 22. If they ask me when I’m 40 I’ll probably say yes."

A lot of celebs have a hard time adjusting to fame after they make it big and Nelly Furtado is one of those people. She reveals, "It was too much too soon. After two years of intense touring and partying I’d spend hours alone in my LA home, just staring at the floor."

Well, it’s good to see that she was able to stay true to her morals even if it is for a bunch of money. That’s an important quality to have.

Cover Art for Nelly Furtado’s Album “Mi Plan” Revealed

Nelly Furtado will be releasing her first Spanish album in September and it is called “Mi Plan”. The cover art for the album has been revealed as you can see below. It’s a simple covert with Nelly’s signature ‘Nelly Furtado’ font, with the title of the album along the side. I like the simplicity of it. Sometimes simple is the best way to go.

The first song off of the album is “Manos Al Aire”, translated to “hands in the air”, which was just recently released. The second track announced to be following the previous song is called “Bajo Otra Luz.” Her Spanish album is due out on September 15th.

Nelly has also revealed that she has been working with Timbaland yet again for her English album.

She revealed, "I’m also writing an English album. Timbaland and I hooked up in the studio about three months ago and we wrote 20 songs in two days. It was really inspired. I think maybe some of that material will be on my English album."

The songstress also revealed that her record label wanted her to "do a quick and easy Spanish version of the ‘Loose’ material."

She explains her disapproval, "But I put the breaks on that. I feel like you have to follow your heart because you have more to lose if you compromise and then don’t succeed. But you’ve got to really appreciate success when it comes. With ‘Loose’ I took the time to toast with champagne every number one and every platinum record."

No news yet on when the English album should be released. I’m glad Nelly stuck to what she believes in for the Spanish album. It’s nice to see the less manufactured side of her again.

Nelly Furtado’s “Manos Al Aire” Music Video

Yesterday, Nelly Furtado premiered the music video for her new single “Manos Al Aire”, meaning “hands in the air”, at the Alexa Chung Show. The song was mostly written and produced by Nelly and is off of her first Spanish album “Mi Plan”, which is set for release on September 29th.

She said of the album, "’Mi Plan’ is my first full collection of Spanish-language pop songs. The songs explore themes of love and the rhythm of everyday life. The featured special guests will also add a unique touch to the album’s sound. And I am delighted to be working with the entire Universal Latin team on this new project."

The music video has an interesting concept. What’s great about this particular version is that it has English subtitles at the bottom! Check it out!

Nelly Furtado Talks About Spanish Album – Video

Nelly Furtado recently put together a little video of herself talking about her new Spanish album, titled “Mi Plan.” She gives us a little look behind-the-scenes at the studio and also discussed how she started writing for the album.

Nelly says, “Recording this album was just a natural progression for me. I wanted my fourth album to be in Spanish. I just didn’t really know when to start and then I met this amazing artist named Alex Cuba in Canada and we started writing songs together by coincidence. Then I realized I was writing songs in Spanish, and before I knew it, I hadn’t written anything in English for a year."

The song that you hear in the background is called “Manos al Aire (Hand in the Air)” and is the first single to be released off the album.

Nelly Furtado’s “Manos Al Aire” Audio

It was recently announced that Nelly Furtado would be releasing an albums in all Spanish and now we are actually hearing a track from the album. The album is titled, “Mi Plan” and this new track is called “Manos Al Aire,” which means “hands in the air” in English. You can expect to see Nelly’s album in stores on September 29th of this year, while she is also planning to release another album in 2010.

I like this song! I think it suits her voice well. It’s nice to given a break from all of that mainstream stuff we’ve been hearing from her in the past two or three years. Yet, it’s still catchy enough. I like the naturalness of it. What do you guys think?

Nelly Furtado Releasing Spanish Album

It has been announced that singer, Nelly Furtado will be releasing her upcoming album in Spanish. The aimed release date for this album is September 26th of this year. According to reports, she is also paying tribute to her Portuguese heritage as she is also releasing an album in Portuguese, aiming or a release date of this year.

I’m really happy that she’s doing this! I felt a bit that she was losing who she was a bit when she released her 2006 album “Loose.” I thought it was a lot more mainstream than her past works which include, “I’m Like a Bird”, “Turn Off the Light” and “Powerless.”

I’m interested to see how this will turn out!
